YPM History
George Young originally established this practice in 1933. Mr. Young was the first Lethbridge-born Chartered Accountant to train and make his professional life in Lethbridge. He practiced in a two-room office with oiled wooden floors above the old Bank of Nova Scotia building. For 14 years, Mr. Young was a sole practitioner with only a receptionist for assistance.
Mr. Robert Parkyn and Mr Tom McNab initially joined the firm as articling students in 1947 and 1952 respectively. On January 1, 1959, the first Lethbridge accounting partnership was established under the name of Young, Parkyn, McNab LLP Chartered Accountants.
Our firm has grown continually to meet the needs of Lethbridge and southern Alberta communities. Over the years YPM has expanded by establishing offices outside of Lethbridge in Fort Macleod, Claresholm, Taber, Milk River, Pincher Creek, and just recently in Vauxhall. Our professional team currently consists of 26 Chartered Accountants of which 10 are partners or owners of the firm. In addition, the organization includes a support team of articling students, Certified General Accountants, Certified Management Accountants, technicians and administrative personnel.
YPM has continually changed from its inception and become much more than a traditional accounting firm. We now offer computer, agricultural, business advisory and many other services provided by our team working in partnership with clients. YPM values and supports the professional and personal growth of our team members and values their individual contributions to the organization.
The strength, integrity and competence of Young Parkyn McNab LLP stems from our level of quality people, the diversified scope of our practice, and the expertise we have developed serving many clients for over 75 years. |
