Marlene Ford
Accounting Technician |
Personal Biography: I am originally from Nova Scotia and after graduating from high school took Journalism at Ryerson in Toronto where I lived for five years. After getting married I moved to Lethbridge where my husband was already employed and "stumbled" into my present career when I applied for a file clerk position with an accounting firm and was chosen to do Data Processing instead. That firm changed over the years and merged with YPM in 1992 where my job eventually moved into bookkeeping with on-the-job training, and Accounting I and II night courses at Lethbridge College. I love the detail work bookkeeping entails and working with computerized accounting software. Also, since over 25 years have passed since I made the application that was to change the course of my career, it must have been the right one!
My husband, Titus, and I have been married for over 25 years and we have three lovely daughters, Jessica, Tamara and Courtney. Jessica and Tamara are both married and Tamara has blessed us with a granddaughter, and Jessica a grandson. Since Titus is from Newfoundland, we are both far from our families and really appreciate the many wonderful friendships we have made over the years.
Hobbies/Interests: I don’t have much time for hobbies but I like to read, swim, go for walks, visit with friends, and play guitar. Church is very important to me and my involvements there include foyer greeting, nursery, and I also teach and lead the singing for the Sparklers Youth group (age 6 – 8) on a bi-weekly basis.
Strengths: I think my biggest strength is that I really like my job. I like detail and organization which both play a major part in bookkeeping. I enjoy talking to clients and being part of the YPM team.
