Doug was educated in Lethbridge, Alberta, and Victoria, British Columbia, and articled under Robert M. Parkyn, FCA, obtaining his CA designation in 1980. In that same year, he was admitted into partnership in the firm.
Doug is responsible for a large and diverse client base including commercial, institutional, and individual clients. He provides, along with various specialty groups available within the firm, audit, accounting, tax, and business advisory services for these clients. He has had significant experience in various corporate refinancing and work-out situations, as well as acquisitions and mergers. Doug has also worked closely with numerous clients and financial institutions to secure credit facilities for various purposes. In addition, Doug has had experience in litigation support, appearing as an expert witness on accounting matters.
Doug has been active both in his profession and in his community. He has served his profession in various capacities including a term as President of the Lethbridge and District Chartered Accountants Association. Doug served six years on the Practice Review Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta, both as a member and chair. Doug is presently the Alberta representative on the Public Liability Insurance Committee of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. He has taught courses on behalf of the Institute of Chartered Accountants to Practice Reviewers of all three professional accounting organizations as well as teaching courses relating to municipal accounting and auditing. He was a Director, the Treasurer and the Chairman of the Finance and Endowment Committee of the Lethbridge Family YMCA. He has served as a volunteer member of the Lethbridge United Appeal, the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce, the Lethbridge Committee of Ducks Unlimited, the Lethbridge Minor Soccer Association, the Southern Alberta Summer Games, the Westcastle Ski Club, and the Lethbridge Amateur Swim Club.
