Personal Biography: In addition to looking after the business affairs of a few significant small to medium-sized businesses, I also maintain a high level of expertise in the area of Not-for-Profit accounting and auditing and I am also the Managing Partner for the firm. Currently I am serving as a Chartered Accountant for the School of Business Board Member and member of the Audit Committee.
Hobbies/Interests: My passion is fly-fishing, whether it is wading the Crowsnest River, drifting the Elk River, float tubing southern Alberta trophy lakes or wading Pacific Ocean flats near the equator in search of the illusive bonefish. I also like to do a little upland game bird hunting which gives me an opportunity to spend time in the beautiful surroundings of Southern Alberta.
Winter activities include skiing, tying flies and reading business, management and leadership books.
Credentials: • Chartered Accountant (1980)
• Bachelor of Commerce, Major in Accounting - University of Calgary (1977)
Strengths: Unlike most accountants, I am more interested in the "big picture" than in the detail. Fortunately I have a great team of people who love the detail, so this allows me to focus on the broad aspects of a business. I also feel that my role as a chartered accountant is to make complex financial information simple and easily understood. I know that this is a tremendous challenge at times!
