Advice to Gen Y Grads

In today’s office enviroment, it is common for your co-workers to range from Baby Boomers to Millennials.  While communication styles and expecations may differ among generations, each add unique strengths to our culture and we can always learn from each other.  Mark Swartz has written a great article entitled Advice to Gen Y Grads From a Gen X Career Specialist which helps to remind us of this.

YPM & PKF North American Network

YPM is a member of the PKF North American Network, an association of 86 independent accounting firms, with 13 in Canada.  As a member firm of PKF, YPM can offer a unique formula for success that combines the most valued characteristics of a local firm with the expertise and capabilities of a regional or national firm.  Our relationship with PKF  enables us to share client service, technical, educational, human resource and marketing resources and expertise with other highly respected firms while maintaining our own firm culture.  While our resources extend to all parts of the world, our commitment to our team members remains top priority.

Tax Season – Our Recipe For Fun

We have fun – it is part of our Mission Statement.  So, how do we make tax season fun?  First, we recognize that we are all facing an increased workload and we approach it with a positive attitude.  We throw in stress relievers such as massages, ping pong, buzzword bingo and snacks. Our team members support one another by sharing the load and recognizing each another for the great work they are doing.  We top it off with an “April 30th Celebration” and a day off.  We appreciate that even though we are going to be busy, it is a great opportunity to provide training, hone our coaching and mentoring skills and continue learning.
